Merry Christmas!
Maligayang Pasko sa ating lahat!
Red Hat released the Red Hat Enterprise Linux 5.4 Beta (kernel-2.6.18-155.el5), with versions for x86, x86/64, Itanium, IBM POWER and System z. The Red Hat Enterprise Linux 5.4 Beta release includes a variety of new features and capabilities, combined with enhancements in virtualization, storage/filesystem, security and developer tools. As with any Beta, our goal is to provide customers and partners with the opportunity to sample and test new features of the release before it’s finalized.
The most exciting new capability in the Red Hat Enterprise Linux 5.4 Beta is the incorporation of KVM-based virtualization, in addition to existing Xen-based virtualization. Red Hat Enterprise Linux 5.4 provides the first commercial-strength implementation of KVM, which is developed as part of the upstream Linux kernel. Xen-based virtualization, of course, remains fully supported for the life of the Red Hat Enterprise Linux 5 family. In addition to the Red Hat Enterprise Linux 5.4 Beta release,Red Hat also announced the availability of the Beta release of the Red Hat Enterprise Virtualization portfolio, which includes Red Hat Enterprise Virtualization Manager for Servers, Red Hat Enterprise Virtualization Manager for Desktops and the standalone, KVM-based Red Hat Enterprise Virtualization Hypervisor.

World-famous maker of iPod accessories, Ozaki, reinvents the microphone. In the most innovative fashion yet, the Ozaki microphone comes in a “pill” form. Aptly dubbed the iPill, it has a capsule-like shape, consisting of two halves–one half is the protective cover, and the better half is the iPill’s 3.5mm connector.
Ozaki iPill is the newest on-the-go mic for iPod, especially made and designed for iPod nano and touch. It has an outstanding sound quality, and works with third party applications so you can do more with your iPod. Ozaki is exclusively distributed in the country by MSI-ECS Phils., Inc.

This afternoon, I had a visit from a couple of chaps from Globe who told me that my old Prolink 9200 modem is at the end of its life and needs to be replaced. I think I scared them both off as they let me do all the wiring myself. Good thing that they gave me a filter and an extra phone cable to hook everything up.
Now the big problem is that I use a Linksys WRT54G router for its QoS and wireless capabilities. On the Prolink, I was able to enable bridging mode. But if you try the default username and password user/user on the Siemens modem, you’ll get neutered options.
A quick trip to PinoyDSL.net gave me the answers to my problems and here they are courtesy of user luolan from Malibay, Pasay City.
Default Username Working For SIEMENS S260
URL: http://192.168.1.1 (to unlock ADVANCE tab)
Username: user
Password: user
URL: http://192.168.1.1/globe (to unlock all admin features)
Username: Admin
Password: 3UJUh2VemEfUtesEchEC2d2e
Just make sure to set your router to a different IP. For example on my Linksys, I set it to 192.168.1.100. You have to hook up your PC directly to the Siemens modem to configure it. Just use the Admin credentials.
Once you’re logged in, your first order of business is to change the password to something you can easily remember. I personally used Admin to make it idiot friendly.
Anyway, the settings you need are VPI 0 and VCI 35. Then set the connection mode from PPPoE to 1483 Bridged. Leave the LLC setting and don’t choose VC-Mux. You can just modify the original profile listed and then save changes. Also, make sure to go to LAN settings then disable DHCP. Afterwards Save and Reboot changes.
Then just go back to your router and make sure that PPPoE is enabled. The username will be your e-mail address with globe which is most likely yourname@globelines.com.ph. The password by default is your account number which can be seen on your latest bill.
If you need more help on this, hit me back or try the PinoyDSL forums. Don’t try calling Globe Technical Support. They’ll just tell you that only their on-site technicians are allowed to do so. They just probably don’t know the settings themselves. The two on-site guys who came here surely didn’t.
I got this in the mail. I’m posting it here in case you’re not in the loop.
Thanks for all your help building Windows 7. We are on our way to the last big milestone: Release to Manufacturing. Starting on October 22, you’ll see it on PCs and store shelves. As we gear up for that, it’s time to wind down the Release Candidate testing program.
If you or a friend needs a download, you’ve got time. We’ll continue to offer the RC download until August 20, 2009. After that, you won’t be able to get the download, but if you have the bits, you can still install the RC and get a key if you need one. (To get a key, just go to the Downloads page and follow the instructions.)
Tell us what you think. If you’re using the Windows 7 Release Candidate, we hope you like what you see. Let us know — go to http://input.microsoft.com and tell us what you think. You’ll be able to give feedback on various aspects of the operating system.
Got the RC and need help? Experts on the Windows 7 Forum can help answer your questions. The forum also gives you a way to share what you’ve learned with other people.

Olympus has established a tradition of offering very well specified cameras at the entry-level, and was one of the first to offer two cameras in this bracket – the little E-410 and its image-stabilized big brother, the E-510 (later upgraded to the 420 and 520 respectively). Now it has introduced the E-620, a model that will ’sell alongside’ the E-420 and E-520 (in the sense that we suspect it will eventually replace the E-520) as the company’s attempt at a ‘500D-killer’.
The E-620 comes with Free Angle Live View in a small and light body. With the Art Filter and multiple exposure functionality, it is sure to expand your world of expressions.
In addition, the image stabilization built into the E-620 means that image stabilization is available with all FourThirds lenses you may decide to use. Combined with the Standard Class lenses with light weight and high cost performance, image stabilization is always available throughout an approximate 33x zoom range from 18mm ultra wide angle to 600mm zoom, relative to 35mm film format, for everyone.
Image stabilization is built into the world’s smallest and lightest camera body, for everyday use. Take your position and shoot a picture by hand whenever the opportunity is right. Your shooting environment is fully supported. Because a small and light weight camera body is easy to carry around, and because image stabilization offers stable quality as well, the E-620 will make your daily life more lively and help keep those moments in high quality.

The OLYMPUS PEN E-P1 is an interchangeable lens digital camera that compliant with the Micro Four Thirds System standard announced in August 2008. The nickname “OLYMPUS PEN” comes from company’s legendary half-frame film camera, which was released in October 1959 and rapidly swept across the world, sold a total of 17 million units worldwide and forever popularizing the joy of photography with people everywhere. We decided to give the new product the same product name because this new camera brings to digital SLR photography the same breakthrough in size reduction and convenience that the original PEN, as well boasting a stylish design that echoes the charm of the original. This naming expresses our commitment to making it possible for as many people as possible to experience the true pleasure of photography at its finest.

The body boasts an attractive metallic finish that expresses the high quality and sense of compressed power exuded by the original “OLYMPUS PEN” series cameras.
For enhanced operability, the new OLYMPUS PEN is also equipped with the iAUTO function popular on our compact digital cameras, which automatically evaluates the scene and sets the optimum scene mode accordingly.
The imaging circuitry uses a 4/3-inch, 12.3-megapixel high speed Live MOS Sensor and a newly developed TruePic V image processing engine to provide high still image quality equivalent to traditional SLR cameras. In addition, possible the recording of 720p HD (High-Definition) movies. Stereo audio recording capability in the linear PCM format is also provided, making it easy to shoot movies with high quality.
